Conveners

Fronteridades was conceived and initiated in Fall 2005 by 3 faculty members at the University of Arizona - from the disciplines of anthropology/folklore, history, and literature - who share an interest in studying how the visual, oral, written, and everyday life creative practices of people in the expansive space of Arizona/Sonora relate to academic practices and theories. In addition, they are interested in learning more about the structures and institutions in the public sphere by and through which the "everydayness" of border life gets translated into policy, legislation, news reporting, curriculum, political rhetoric, contracts, etc. Maribel Alvarez serves as the group's coordinator for content in the site. You can learn more about each one of the site's conveners and contact them for additional information at the links below.
